This package is designed to help improve the knowledge and understanding of occupational health and safety issues related to this industry.

This package will help you understand occupational health and safety hazards and laws and provide some practical solutions to common health and safety problems in the Retail Industry.

This includes:

  • Manual handling;
  • slips, trips and falls;
  • machinery and equipment; and
  • right to refuse unsafe work.

If you complete this package successfully you will receive an on-line ActSafe Retail Industry Health and Safety Awareness Certificate signed by the ACT Commissioner for Occupational Health and Safety.

Common Hazards in the Retail Industry

There are common hazards that exist in the Retail Industry. It is important to learn about these hazards and how to work safely in these environments.

Within this industry you may be involved in a range of work activities such as packaging, stacking shelves, customer service and sales, and marketing.
